Lapis lazuli has been treasured since the days of ancient Egypt. Top gem quality gemstones come from Afghanistan, but production has slowed due to the current military conflict. Prices of top quality lapis lazuli have gone up and the market has seen an increase in gemstones that have been dyed to look like "gemmy" lapis lazuli.

In this mini-kit, you will receive three gemstones: gem quality, commercial quality and a fake!

With Terra's easy-to-follow, illustrated guide you will:

• Learn the difference between gem quality and commercial quality lapis lazuli.

• Conduct a test to learn which of your 3 gemstones is a dyed fake. (You will need nail polish remover)

• Learn more about the mining, history and lore of lapis lazuli.
